In Memorium

"The Ballad of Quincy and Rosalie"

I wrote this song during the year of my graduation.  At first it was an instrumental piece, no lyrics whatsoever.  Then one day, during my time on the annual Chorus Tour, as I was sitting on the bus with pen and paper in hand attempting to do SOMETHING creative, somebody asked me, "What'cha doin'?"  "Trying to come up with something creative," I answered.  "Good," she replied, "then you can write me a love song."

For some reason, this tune came to mind.  All along I'd thought it sounded like a love song, but really didn't need lyrics to express it.  Obviously, THAT thought inspired the words you see printed here.  And the reason for naming it "The Ballad of Quincy & Rosalie" was born from a combination of inspiration from some Beatles titles (yes, "The Ballad of John & Yoko") as well as simply watching the two of them interacting while they were on the tour with us.

I created this page of music using Finale's Notepad transcription program.  I also used that program to create a MIDI sound file which I later converted into a Wave File that more people might be able to listen to from here.  I hope you enjoy it.

    • #653- The Way of the Cross
    • #333- In the Land of Fadeless Day
      • Clsg Prayer

  • New/New-to-Us Songs:
    • #2- A Beautiful Prayer
      • This hymn has a strong alto lead in the chorus, thus it would behoove us to take some time outside of worship to learn it.
      • There are a few videos posted on YouTube that play A Capella versions of this song (mostly congregational singing), but this link plays the song with a MIDI sound file; it begins with all four parts, then plays each one individually (making it easier to pick out soprano, alto, etc., than it would from a congregational recording).  This could be a good tool for learning the song before coming to worship.
    • #96- Christ Returneth
    • #232- Hiding in Thee
      • An A Capella recording of this song is available at this link to the YouTube channel "Traditional Hymns", a good source for many hymns in our book.
    • #316- In Heaven They're Singing
      • A recording of congregational singing for this song can be found at this link which is part of a collection of YouTube videos playing recordings from Ray Walkers' Songbook Series of CDs.
    • #418- Lord I Care Not for Riches
      • An A Capella recording of this song is available at this link to the YouTube channel "Traditional Hymns", a good source for many hymns in our book.
    • #430- My Name is In the Book of Life
      • An A Capella recording of this song is available at this link to the YouTube channel "Traditional Hymns", a good source for many hymns in our book.
    • #553- Rise Up, O Men of God - Walter
    • #670- There's a Garden
      • This is NOT a new song, in fact EL just led it for us on the evening of 6/25/17; assuming this song doesn't end up with a negative commentary from "Shall We Have 'Praise for the Lord'?" I hope to lead it someday myself.
    • #941- I Sing the Mighty Power of God - Ellacombe
      • An A Capella recording of this song is available at this link to the YouTube channel "Traditional Hymns", a good source for many hymns in our book.
